Anthrax - Introduction
The name anthrax comes from the Greek word for “coal” and refers to the typical & characteristic black eschar of the skin lesions
Caused by endospores of Bacillus anthracis
Common Gram + soil organism
Introduced by:
- Abrasion - Cutaneous disease
- Inhalation - Pulmonary disease
- Ingestion - Gastrointestinal / Oropharyngeal
