Basal Cell Degeneration:
  1. Also called hydropic or liquifaction degeneration. This is caused by vacuolization of the basal cell cytoplasm. It is seen commonly in lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, poikiloderma atrophicans vasculare, erythema dyschromicum perstans, lichen sclerosis et atrophicus, interface dermatitis conditions and graft-vs-host reactions.
