Pediculus Humanus - Head or Body Louse
Pediculus humanus occurs in two distinct populations. P. humanus capitis, the head louse, and P. humanus corporis, the body louse, show minor anatomical differences and may not be grossly discernible. Their eggs or "nits" are cemented to hair fiber, or thread fiber, respectively. To see "nits", click HERE and HERE. P. humanus corporis may have evolved from P. humanus capitis after man began wearing clothes.
